This site began as a final project for a sports nutrition culinary class, and I decided to keep it going as a place to point friends when they ask “what do you actually eat?”
All the recipes included are not only vegan, but an attempt to create meals and snacks that meet several nutrition goals:
- Provide a variety of high net-gain food combinations for both sustained energy and athletic recovery
- Incorporate as many superfoods as possible, while maintaining tastiness
- Avoid tree nuts and gluten, two of the most common allergies and sensitivities
- Utilize mostly raw ingredients for optimal nutrient absorption and digestion
- Take nutrient timing and energy expenditure into account
I’ve tried my best, where applicable, to list suggestions for food timing as well as superfood notes regarding added health benefits.
So ya, this is an ongoing project in food nerding.
If official nutrition creds matter to you, here they are: I’m certified in Plant-Based Sports Nutrition through the Matthew Kenney Culinary Institute, and a graduate of the certificate program in Plant-Based Nutrition at the T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies and eCornell.
